via howtogeek.com

We’ve discussed cloud computing previously, or running a web or internet-based application from a major provider like Google or Microsoft, but the “cloud” could also be used to provide an offsite location for your data backups.

The History Of Photo Sharing [Infographic]

Media_httpwebtoolfeed_glajm
via inspirationfeed.com

Photo sharing has come a long way. 20 years ago the process of taking, processing, and distributing a photo could take weeks or longer. Now, all you have to do is pull out your smartphone, snap a high-resolution photo, add a few filters to it, and you have a decent looking photo.

These sort of technological advancements create/destroy opportunities for entrepreneurs. Many small startup companies were stunned to see Istagram being bought for a billion dollars. Now we have an image sharing based social network pop-up every month or so. This kind of saturation cannot go on forever, the next market disruption is bound to happen very soon. The question is; who will it be?

Why Did Facebook Buy Instagram? Introducing Facebook Camera

Media_httpd1ljua7nc4h_qceio
via fstoppers.com

UPDATE 2: Huffington Post has edited their original article. They now state that the Instagram app deal will close later this year, not the whole app.
In case you were as baffled when you heard that Facebook purchased Instagram for $1 Billion, you weren’t alone. But news today shows the reason. Facebook has announced their next product: Facebook Camera.

UPDATE 1: Facebook has said that Instagram employees did not work on the new Facebook Camera app as the acquisition is still in process. They also announced that it expects the Instagram app to close sometime this year. Wait, what? The purchase of Instagram looks more and more like just an action to remove a competitor. But because there are so many apps out there, if that really is the reason the purchase can look sort of unnecessary and, well, silly. Unless HuffPost made a major boo boo with their reporting…

via gizmodo.com

A new challenger appears! Facebook is now beginning to eat up its children, releasing a Camera app that competes directly with its recently purchased Instagram. Is it any good? Should you use both? Which one is better? Let’s dig in.

Both rely on the same general process: fire up the app, select a photo, add a filter if you’re feeling sassy, and upload to the world. But there are some serious differences that should make anyone using Instagram and/or Facebook to reevaluate how they spread photos around.
